Meet the A Life To Live Home Care Team

Daniel R. Hawkes
Owner & Founder
For Daniel R. Hawkes, home care has never simply been a profession, it has been a lifelong purpose.
For more than 25 years, Daniel has dedicated his career to serving older adults and individuals with
disabilities. His journey began as a teenager providing end-of-life care for a neighbor on hospice, an
experience that forever changed the way he viewed aging, dignity, and the profound responsibility of
caring for another human being.
Throughout his career, Daniel has worked in nearly every aspect of the home care industry. From
caregiver and Certified Nursing Assistant to scheduling, recruiting, client services, operations, and
executive leadership, he has experienced home care from every perspective. Those experiences taught
him not only how exceptional care should look—but also revealed the gaps that too often leave clients
feeling overlooked, unheard, and treated like a diagnosis instead of a person.
That realization led Daniel to found A Life to Live Home Care in October 2024.
His vision was never to build just another home care agency. His vision was to create an organization where every client is treated as a human being first.
Daniel believes one of the greatest misconceptions about aging is that people somehow stop caring about the things that have always mattered to them. They still care about how they look, how they are spoken to, the choices they make, the routines they have built over a lifetime, and maintaining control over their own lives. The need for assistance does not diminish a person's dignity, independence, opinions, or value.
That belief is woven into every aspect of A Life to Live Home Care.
Daniel's philosophy is simple: every client deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and valued. He believes the smallest details often have the greatest impact—learning how someone likes their coffee, respecting the way they prefer their home organized, taking time to listen to their stories, and recognizing that they still have wisdom, purpose, and experiences worth sharing.
Care is never just about completing tasks.
It is about preserving independence, honoring personal preferences, protecting dignity, and ensuring every individual knows their voice matters.
This philosophy has become the foundation of A Life to Live Home Care's culture, influencing everything from caregiver training and care planning to client advocacy and community partnerships.
Daniel remains actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company, working closely with clients, families, caregivers, referral partners, and his leadership team to continually improve the experience of receiving care at home. His commitment has helped establish A Life to Live Home Care as one of Central Pennsylvania's fastest-growing independent home care providers, recognized for its person-centered approach and unwavering commitment to quality.
Outside of work, Daniel's nurturing nature extends well beyond home care. He is an avid plant enthusiast whose office and home are filled with thriving tropical plants, from towering Monsteras and vibrant Philodendrons to countless other varieties of lush greenery. He often jokes that if something can grow, he'll probably find room for it.
He also shares his home with two beloved feline companions who are very much part of the family: Prance, his eight-year-old Seal Point Himalayan, and Prudence, his spirited one-year-old Lynx Point Siamese. Whether tending to his plants or spending time with his cats, Daniel finds joy in caring for the living things around him—a reflection of the compassion and patience that have defined both his personal life and his career.
The name A Life to Live was inspired by one of Daniel's former clients, Adeline Sterner, who once told him, "Daniel showed me I have a life to live." Those words became far more than a compliment—they became the mission of the company.
Every decision Daniel makes comes back to one question:
"Does this help our clients continue living a life they are proud to call their own?
Because everyone deserves more than care.
They deserve to feel seen.
They deserve to feel heard.
They deserve to feel respected.
And above all, they deserve to know they still have A Life to Live.
"If you've spent any time around me, you'll quickly realize we're not your typical home care agency—and that's intentional. We're a little louder, a little more colorful, and we believe life should still be lived. More importantly, we believe every person deserves to be seen, heard, and respected. A person's value isn't measured by their age, their diagnosis, or what they can no longer do. It's measured by who they are, the life they've lived, and the dreams they still have. We didn't build A Life to Live Home Care to do home care the way it's always been done. We built it to remind every client that they still have a voice, they still have choices, and they still have a life to live."

Jose "Cheo" R.
Director of Operations
Cheo brings more than two decades of experience serving older adults throughout the York community.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Cheo was raised in a close-knit family where respect for elders, compassion, and service to others were deeply rooted values. Those principles continue to guide both his personal life and professional career as he remains devoted to caring for and supporting his own family, including his parents.
Inspired by the compassion and selflessness his mother instilled in him, Cheo has dedicated his career to helping seniors live with dignity, independence, and the support they deserve.
For 15 years, Cheo served at a local senior community center, where he built lasting relationships throughout York County while connecting older adults with valuable community resources, support programs, and essential services. His ability to understand each individual's unique needs and advocate on their behalf earned him the trust of countless seniors and their families.
Following his time at the senior center, Cheo spent six years in home care leadership, overseeing the coordination and daily operations of in-home care services. During this time, he gained extensive experience in client care, caregiver support, scheduling, service coordination, and operational management, further strengthening his commitment to providing exceptional care to those who wish to remain safely at home.
As a longtime friend of A Life to Live Home Care Founder Daniel Hawkes, Cheo had the opportunity to witness the organization's mission from its earliest days. In May 2026, he joined the ALTL family as Director of Operations, drawn by the opportunity to be part of an organization that puts people before profits and is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors, caregivers, and the community.
Today, Cheo's leadership, integrity, and genuine compassion play an essential role in helping A Life to Live Home Care fulfill its mission of providing exceptional, person-centered care. We are proud to have him as part of the ALTL leadership team.
